Redworx delivered the Mechanical and Public Health package for the CAT A refurbishment of level 3 at 123 Buckingham Palace Road. The project transformed the floorplate to create modern office accommodation, including the refurbishment of four existing service cores and the installation of a new exposed services design throughout the workspace.
Delivered within an occupied commercial building, the scheme required close coordination with existing building services, tenant operations and ongoing activity on surrounding floors.
Engineering the solution
The mechanical scope included the installation of new fan coil units, primary mechanical services, low temperature hot water systems, water services and associated distribution infrastructure. Existing services within each of the four cores were adapted and integrated to support the new floor layout and exposed ceiling aesthetic.
Delivered as a Design and Build project, Redworx worked closely with the wider project team to coordinate services within an evolving design environment, ensuring the final installation aligned with both architectural and operational requirements.
Delivering within a live environment
Working within an occupied commercial building presented several logistical challenges throughout delivery. Noise restrictions limited working hours, while the transportation of large fan coil units to level 3 required careful planning due to lift size constraints, with equipment dismantled and reassembled to facilitate installation.
Additional site investigations and reviews of retained services required ongoing coordination and design development to ensure successful integration with the existing infrastructure.
Through proactive planning, technical expertise and close collaboration with Cast Interiors, Redworx successfully delivered a high-quality CAT A refurbishment that provides flexible, future-ready office accommodation while maintaining minimal disruption to building occupiers.
